Filtration/Equipment: AC 110, Penguin 350, 200W Heater, T5 Lighting (12000K & 6700K bulbs)

Fish: Yellow Top Mbambas & Flavus

How do you find your plec does in hard water?

They seem to be doing ok. I have 1 BN in the 140G who's been there for about a year. He hasn't really grown much but he's alive and eating well.

The ones I'm growing out are doing good. 6 of the 7 are showing some growth (I've only had them 6 weeks or so), the other little guy not so much.

I see that you used a AC 110 in a 50 gallon with washed play sand. How did that work? I had a very hard time to direct the outlet of mine, so it would´nt move the sand all over the place in my 106 gallon.

Swede, I didn't have any issues with the flow from the filter kicking up the sand. For the most part the water re-enters the tank and goes forward then down...never really reaching the bottom enough to kick up sand. There is current down there as any floating food particles take a while to settle (usually gone before that).

The only time I get sand in the filters is when I stick my hand in there for various reasons (I know I should turn them off but I usually don't).
